Lidia

Lidia is a recent graduate of Ion Cuza University in Iasi, Romania. She is presently working as a teacher in a remote and poor rural community on the country's north eastern border with the Republic of Moldova. Her work, both as a teacher and volunteer is passionately concerned with improving the lives and opportunities of people within this and similar communities.

Lidia was a member of the group engaged in the project ‘Community Creativity for Community Development’. She is now local coordinator for a Comenius 1 project ‘Know, Touch, See, Taste’ which involves partners in Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Bulgaria’.

Her particular interests are in developing new teaching methodologies and especially in the use of drama and improvisation techniques – an approach to education that is new in the Romanian context.

The traveler was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing."
